The first mistake sellers’ make is trying to sell their home themselves. The biggest reason a person decides to go this route is to save money. When you use this reason, you need to ask yourself if you’ll be able to afford the time it will take to market your home, meet with people, and take care of all the little details that go into selling a home. One of the main jobs of a realtor is to market your home. Realtors have access to many tools such as the MLS, scheduling, and a network of people they trust. Having a realtor guarantees you’ll be working with a person who abides by a stringent code of ethics (as seen here) and insurance, whereas a real estate agent doesn’t.


Another mistake commonly seen is overpricing your home. has an accurate website that you just can’t find with a couple of others. Accuracy is important because it helps you to correctly price your home. Your realtor will be able to help you determine the best price by looking up the local MLS to find the local comparables.


In our region, roofs experience many different weather patterns. Oftentimes, homeowners will choose not to fix the roof or not have it inspected and leave it for the next owners. The problem with this course is that your buyer’s insurance will choose not cover a roof if it is not in good shape. It is a good idea to have your roof inspected and repairs made before putting it on the market.
