Colorado Summer Fun

Colorado Summer Fun

I love Colorado Summer Fun! Not because it is my favorite season weather-wise, but because of its potential.

Kids are out of school and we can all take some time to relax and recharge, right? Then why is it that Summer seems to be the busiest season? In my case, it is probably because I took that exact approach. “Ah, Summer is here! No more schedules and long days in the office.”

Now I take the time to lay out our summer plans, keep outings close to home, and schedule some kick-back days.

There is plenty to do, right here in our gorgeous, Rocky Mountain back yard.

These are some our favorites:

  • Hiking and boating (no gasoline motors) in and around the Pikes Peak Catamount Reservoirs. It’s only $4 per adult or get a season pass and save more.
  • Camping in San Isabel. Only 1.5 hours drive from the Springs, and very quiet, beautiful and relaxing.
  • Geocaching
  • Rockhounding
  • Sightseeing – helicopter tour of the Royal Gorge, zipline in Salida, Renaissance Festival in Larkspur, visit White House Ranch, go to The May Natural History Museum.
  • Family evening walks
  • Backyard playground – we put hammock swings, zip lines, spring horses, a club house, fountains, a stream, gazebo and more in our back yard to make it an instant retreat all summer long.

What do you do to keep Summer relaxing and fun?
